A banner exchange is a program in which each member of the exchange helps themselves by helping their fellow webmasters. Each time a member's web page is loaded with a 468x60 banner on it (much like the one at the bottom of this page), that member gets a certain number of credits. Each credit is then automatically spent to show their own banner on another web site. When the banner is clicked on, it directs the viewer to the owner's site. The more traffic you get, the more banners you show. The more banners you show, the more banners are shown of yours, which in turn leads to more traffic, more banners shown, etc.

The 4Traffic Banner Exchange gives you a 5:4 impression ratio: for every 5 you show, you get 4 shown of your own. By comparison, the largest banner exchange, LinkExchange, gives only a 2:1 ratio. 4Traffic also offers other optional free services to its banner exchange members, including automated monthly search engine submission/re-submission, the 4Traffic tracking program, Link Partners program, a remote configurable guest book, and more.

Upon joining you are sent an e-mail with HTML code to cut and paste into the pages you want to use banners on. You then design your banner (check out our resources page for help) and submit it.
